Client's Guide
Your part in the hire
Somebody is recruiting for you, and HiMatcher is where you take part: Where you answer the questions the role rests on, read what was agreed, and say yes or no to the people suggested to you. This guide shows you each of those pages, and nothing you will not see.
How to use this guide
Read Welcome first: It takes five minutes and shows you your sign-in and your dashboard. After that, go to the chapter for whatever has just arrived, whether a briefing to answer or suggested candidates to decide on. Each chapter opens with what you will learn and shows you the screen you should be looking at.
The organisation recruiting for you is called your recruiter throughout. It may be a recruitment firm or your own company's hiring team; its name is at the top of every page you see.
The example we follow
Every chapter uses the same example. Northbridge Guitar School teaches adults to play, mostly online, and is hiring a part-time Studio Administrator. Jo Fielding is the school's director, and the person who has to say yes. The school, its staff and every applicant are invented, but the screens are the real ones.
Contents
Getting started
- Welcome: Your sign-in and your dashboard Accepting your invitation, signing in, and reading the dashboard that tells you where each role has got to and what is waiting for you.
- The words you will meet Every term you will see on your pages, in plain English, with the chapter that explains it.
Before anyone applies
- Your briefing Answering the questions the role rests on, in your own words, on the page or by sending a document; and what happens to your answers.
- Person Specification Reading the draft specification row by row, agreeing each row or commenting on any part of it, reading what your colleagues said, and agreeing the whole.
- Questions we have for you The plain facts the advertisement cannot be written without, asked beneath your briefing; the organisation chart beside them; anything the draft job description left open, answered in a line each; and what you have already told us, shown rather than asked again.
- What we agreed, your meetings and your contacts Reading the job description and the advertisement once they are agreed, the meetings that concerned the role, and who to write to.
Choosing the person
- Deciding on your suggested candidates Opening the candidates your recruiter has suggested to you, reading about each one, and saying yes, no or unsure; and why some candidates are numbers.
- Reading the scoresheet Where your recruiter lets you, the grid of every candidate against every question, with the band given to each answer; what the five bands mean; and how to ask about one.
- Discuss, and your messages Writing to your recruiter's team about one question, one answer or one band without leaving the page, and reading what they write back.
Your account
- Your account, your password and signing in Changing your name, email address or password, adding a second step to signing in, and signing out.
